Are you ready to Ink & Paint in Illustrator?
Watch Laura’s December 14 video chat.
In this workshop Laura will give you a detailed demonstration of the two primary inking and painting tools in Illustrator: the Paintbrush Tool, and the Blob Brush Tool. You’ll learn about the settings for getting the most out of these tools with a pressure sensitive Wacom tablet. Laura thoroughly discusses Calligraphic brushes and shows you the steps for creating a set of brushes to use for linework and coloring.
With this foundation, you’ll be ready to follow along with Laura as she guides you through a complete, fun, floral art project that includes Laura’s original tracing art and a custom color palette.
A pen tablet is required for this workshop
Even if freehand drawing isn’t your thing, the included tracing art will give you an enjoyable opportunity to practice and develop your hand-eye coordination with the Wacom Tablet, an essential skill for anyone who works with a tablet.
And if you love the idea of digital drawing, this project will give you the chance to look over Laura’s shoulder and learn her process for creating freehand art in Illustrator that you can apply to your own work.

What are Project Workshops?
Project Workshops are self-paced video tutorials that focus on a single project or topic. Unlike our multi-week interactive classes, Project Workshops are designed for you to work on your own.
As a self-paced student, you will receive immediate access to all of the class content as soon as you register. Content is provided via streaming video lessons you can access and watch at your leisure. Lesson videos are also available on iPad and iPhone devices. A printable PDF Lesson Guide and the project exercise files are also included and immediately available for download.
This 1 hour and 45 minute workshop will guide you through the creation of a library of Calligraphic Brushes. You’ll learn how to use the Paintbrush and Blob Brush tools and the settings to get the most out of using the brushes with a Wacom tablet. You’ll follow Laura through a project that includes her original floral motif tracing art and a custom color palette. The class finishes with a short demonstration on how to use the finished floral art in a repeat pattern.
