Renee Pearson

Renee is not so good at writing long biographies about herself. She's much better at answering short questions with short answers. So here's an interview Renee conducted with...errr...herself. You'll find answers to the questions she thinks you might ask.

Renee
Who is the Renee Pearson of ReneePearson.com?
Well, that would be me…the wearer of many hats.
I am wife, mother and grandmother.
I am digital artist, illustrator and designer.
I am writer.
I am teacher and learner.
I am this site's web designer, developer and, obviously, namesake.
People say you wrote the definitive book on digital scrapbooking.
Really? What people? Ohhhh…my people. Well, I did write the first comprehensive how-to book on digital scrapbooking. It's called Digital Designs for Scrapbooking. I followed that up with Digital Designs for Scrapbooking: Making Your Own, another how-to book on creating your own digital backgrounds and elements.

What tools do you use?
My tool of choice is Adobe Photoshop, which I have been using for over 15 years. (Yeah…I remember the days before layer styles. I still create my drop shadows from scratch!) As a result, I am also proficient in Photoshop Elements. Oh! I'm a Mac devotee, but that doesn't keep me from teaching PC users as well. In fact, I have a couple of PCs in my home to test lessons.
Weren't you associated with CK Media and their magazines?
Yes, I surely was. That would be as Contributing Editor to Simple Scrapbooks magazine and Associate Editor to Digital Scrapbooking magazine, where I also wrote the DesignWise column. In addition to my writing duties, I also represented the magazines all over the world and on television, teaching and spreading the gospel of digital.
Do you only teach digital crafting topics?
No way! My real passion is actually digital art. Lots of people (not my people this time) call this type of art "digital mixed media." I find that kind of funny since digital is really a single medium! But if it helps to explain what I do, then that's what I'll call it, too. The image to the left is a sample of my work. Why did you open ReneePearson.com?
Simply put, because I love to teach. I love seeing the proverbial "light bulb" come on above my students' heads…even if it's a virtual lightbulb. I believe that anyone can learn this stuff if you just break it down into manageable chunks. That's how I teach, in manageable chunks. And before you know it, you're doing stuff you never dreamed you could do.

Is there anything else you'd like to say before you close this interview with yourself?
Nope.
